Sermon Overview
Reidhead uses the example of the Centurion to show that one is only "in authority" when they are "under authority." He argues that the believer's power over sin and the enemy is directly proportional to their unconditional surrender to the Lordship of Christ. Authority is presented as a "delegated right" rather than a personal power.
Key Principles
Centurion’s Principle:Accept that you only have Spiritual Authority over the enemy when you are Under the Authority of Christ.
Submission Prerequisite:Unconditionally surrender your will to Jesus as the only way to release His power through you.
Word as Source: Look to the "Scriptures" for your specific mandates; don't act outside of God's "Book of Orders."
Weakness and Fear:Exercise your authority with "humility and trembling," so you don't fall into the pride of the enemy.
Weakness Warrant:Use your "human weakness" as your legal warrant to rely on the "Spirit’s Power."
Name of Jesus: Use the Name of Jesus as your "Spiritual Power of Attorney" to enforce the King's laws.
Staying in Bounds:Refuse to act on "personal impulse"; stay strictly within the "boundaries" of your God-given assignment.
Establishing Reign:Aim to see God's "Absolute Reign" established in your heart as the goal of all authority.
