Sermon Overview
In this second part, Reidhead explores the "Propitiation" aspect of the Atonement. He argues that the Cross was not just a display of love, but a legal necessity to satisfy the holy wrath of God against sin. He describes the "Great Exchange" where Christ bore the penalty so that the believer might receive the righteousness of God.
Key Principles
Propitiation: View the Cross as a "legal necessity" to satisfy God’s holy wrath, not just a demonstration of love.
Substitutionary: Accept the "Great Exchange" where Christ bore your judicial penalty to give you His righteousness.
Satisfying Justice:Rest in the fact that God’s "Justice" has been satisfied, legally releasing His "Mercy" to you.
Precious Blood Currency: Treat the Blood of Christ as the "infinite payment" that fully cleared your debt to the Law.
Lamb of God: Rely on the "Lamb of God" to take away not just the guilt of sin, but the desirefor it.
Finished Work: Stop trying to "add" to the Atonement through your own penance or self-effort; it is Finished.
Legally Settled: Anchor your assurance in a "settled legal case"—realize the court of heaven has already declared you free.
Consecration: Respond to the infinite price of your redemption by giving God your "soul, your life, your all."
