Sermon Overview
Reidhead posits that when a person is not "anchored" in the Finished Work of Christ and the sovereignty of God, they fall victim to irrational fears and insecurity. He argues that "Irrationality" is often the result of trying to solve spiritual problems with human logic. The cure is a return to the "Rationality of the Word," where the believer finds their identity and security in God’s unchanging character.
Key Principles
Self-Reliance Insecurity: Recognize that your anxiety is often the fruit of relying on your own strength rather than God's.
Centeredness: Realize that a life without God at the center is fundamentally irrational and unstable.
Identity in the Beloved:Find your worth in being "accepted in the Beloved" (Eph 1:6) rather than in your personal performance.
Stable Point: Fix your eyes on the Cross as the only unmoving point in an ever-changing world.
Renewed Mind: Combat anxiety by intentionally replacing "fear-thoughts" with the "Rationality of the Word."
Covenant Safety: Rest in the "legal safety" of your covenant relationship with God, which He cannot break.
Holy Awe: Replace your "irrational fear" of the future with a "holy awe" of God’s majesty and presence.
Sound Mind: Claim the "Sound Mind" as a direct gift from the Holy Spirit, refusing to live in mental chaos.
