Sermon Overview
Reidhead defines the "world" not as physical matter, but as a system of values and ambitions designed to function independently of God. He argues that eternal life manifests as a declining interest in "the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life". This overcoming is not achieved through legalistic rules, but through the "expulsive power" of a new, divine love that replaces worldly desires.
Key Principles

Cosmos as Rival:Recognize the world’s values (Status, Power, Wealth) as the direct rivals of God's Kingdom.

Finished Work Victory: Rely on the fact that Christ has already overcome the world; stand in His victory.

No Boasting: Renounce all "boasting" in your own success; find your only pride in the Cross of Christ.

Faith as Victory:Use faith—the sight of the invisible—to overcome the enticements of the visible world.

Divider of Ambits: Use the Cross as a "Great Divide" to protect your heart from the pull of secular ambition.

Religious Humanism:Reject any religious form that puts man’s comfort or success at the center instead of God.

Strangers and Pilgrims:Maintain the mindset of a traveler; refuse to "settle down" or entrench in the world-system.

Boasting in the Cross:Make the Cross your only source of pride and your only standard for evaluating success.
