Sermon Overview
Reidhead explains that true love for neighbor is only possible when one is properly related to God. He defines "neighbor love" as seeking the highest good of others at the cost of one's own comfort or rights. Using the parable of the Good Samaritan, he shows that the "cost" of this commandment is the death of selfishness and the willingness to be inconvenienced for the sake of another’s need.
Key Principles

Vertical Powering Horizontal: Only attempt to love your neighbor after you have received God's love for yourself.

Defining Neighbor:View "anyone in need within your reach" as the specific target for your sacrificial love.

Cost of Compassion: Be willing to spend your Time, Money, and Energy to meet the needs of others.

Overcoming Prejudice:Deliberately cross cultural or social barriers to love those you naturally find difficult.

Serving Christ in Others: View every act of service to a neighbor as a direct act of worship and service to Jesus.

Death of "I First":Systematically put to death the "I First" principle in your finances, schedule, and ego.

Community of Love:Commit to the local church as a "radical community" where sacrificial love is the standard.
